#OccupyWallStreet; mungkinkah Malaysia seterusnya?

#OccupyWallStreet merupakan satu siri demonstrasi berterusan yang bermula di Liberty Square dan berpengkalan di Zuccoti Park, NY yang digerakkan dengan tujuan mendesak kerajaan Amerika agar menangani masalah-masalah ketidaksamaan serta ketidakadilan yang berpunca dari golongan korporat. Akan tetapi, matlamat penunjuk perasaan ini tidak jelas serta berbeza-beza. Demonstrasi ini telahpun merebak bukan sahaja di dalam Amerika malah ke serata dunia termasuk Hong Kong, Tokyo dan Madrid.

Persoalannya, adakah virus #OccupyWallStreet ini berkemungkinan menjangkiti negara kita? Jika diteliti, punca sebenar bermulanya demonstrasi ini adalah ketidaksamaam kekayaan serta perngaruh korporat terhadap kerajaan Amerika. Isu-isu ini juga kini sentiasa dimainkan dalam arus politik tanah air. Protes sebegini bakal memberikan impak yang besar terhadap sektor ekonomi negara.

The After Effect of Prof Dr Abdul Aziz Bari Suspension - Rational?

Recent events related to the suspension of Prof. Dr. Abdul Aziz Bari, a law lecturer of IIUM provoked various groups and individuals to perform a protest urging the institution to rectify the suspension . One questionable after effect of this event is do these people really know the story behind all this ruckus or they are just trying to gain some cheap publicity.

The suspension of Aziz Bari was due to his comment towards Sultan Shafaruddin Idris Shah for His Highness' involvement in the Damansara Utama Methodist Church raid on August the third this year. His suspension comes in the wake of his publicly expressed opinion regarding the raid stating that the involvement of the Royal family is somehow not a common practice of the institution.

The raid of DUMC was done after several reports and investigations lead to a conclusion that the church held several program to convert Muslims. Though I have been using the word 'raid' several time, the truth is, it is not as described as those who took advantage from this situation. JAIS was accused to have raid DUMC on which a Thanksgiving dinner was held during the time without any proofs when what happened was actually a series of questioning and reasoning with the event management members.

The suspension of Dr. Aziz Bari provoked quite a large crowd of students claiming that his thoughts and statements was part of the academic freedom as recommended by UNESCO.
